SiSiSi: Casa Comalat ou Casa de la Bola

442, Avinguda Diagonal et 316, calle de Corsega, Barcelona in 1906-11 by VALERI i PUPURULL

The building is constructed over across two streets and therfore has two façades. These facades are very different from each other. The facade on the mallorca avenue is strongly inspired by the casa Battlo by Gaudi but it is even more expressive. The ground floor is made of granulating false granite. It is covered by a huge green metal jutting out bow window that embraces several floors and smotthen the facade. It is topped by frescas on a kind of renewed fronton. The other facade, on the Diagonal avenue, is more kitch and uses a medieval decoration theme. Its windows and cover feature knights' armors. You may try to look inside the hall (there is a gate keeper) which is richely decorated and worth a look.
